Learn the first steps of free-motion quilting!
You should be familiar with your sewing machine, accessories, and their functions to
enjoy and benefit from this class.
If you need help with using your Bernina machine and its functions, Mad B’s offers
mastery lessons for Bernina sewing machines and would suggest that you consider
enrolling in a private mastery lesson that will be tailored to you and your machine prior
to this class. Contact any of the friendly staff at Mad B’s for more information.
The Instructor of this class will not be responsible to teach you about your machine or
its functions.
Sewing machine with power cord and foot control. Machine should be in good working
order and you should be familiar with its operation. Please bring your machine
manual(s) in case you need to look something up. If you have a tray table for your
sewing machine, please bring it.
Basic Sewing Kit; includes but is not limited to, scissors (small scissor with a sharp
point), pins, thread, hand sewing needles and seam ripper.
Required presser feet; Darning, Quilting or Open Toe Embroidery Foot (specific for your
Sewing machine extension table.
Straight stitch plate (not necessary, but may be helpful).
Machinger gloves or equivalent.
Thread snips/scissors.
Supreme slider.
Fabric Marker (visible on fabric).
Sketchpad + Pen/Pencil.
Self-threading needle.
Machine Needles; Topstitch 80/12 or 90/14 needle.
One-half (½) yard of muslin or solid fabric (no prints).
Eighteen-inches by twenty-two inches (18” x 22”) thin cotton batting.
50wt or 40wt cotton thread.
Matching bobbin thread for two bobbins.
Please clean and oil your machine.
Make sure you have the ability to drop the feed dogs or cover the feed dogs.
Wind at least two bobbins with your piecing thread.
Sandwich fabric + batting.
Baste with a few safety pins, thread or spray basting.
Insert a new needle in your machine.
Press wrinkles out before class.
Mad B’s allows food and drinks in the classroom, but please be courteous of your
neighbors and the worker bee’s. We appreciate it when you clean up after yourself.
Mad B’s commits to providing a clean and safe environment for you, the student as well
as the instructor and staff. We limit the number of students enrolling in our classes in
order to meet or exceed the recommended social distancing guidelines. Surfaces are
sanitized prior to every class. Face coverings while in the classroom will be at the
discretion and agreement of the Instructor and the students.
Mad B’s provides as a courtesy and convenience to you, irons, iron boards, cutting
tables and cutting mats. Due to usage, they are not in-like new condition. If this is of
concern to you, feel free to bring your own equipment.
If you have an issue with the facility or its equipment, please let the instructor know so
we can address it promptly.
A seven (7) day notice is required to receive a full refund or store credit. If there is
less than a seven (7) day notice given, Mad B’s will attempt to fill the seat with
another customer. If the seat is filled, you may receive a full refund or store credit
for the class fees only. If Mad B’s is unable to fill the cancelled seat, your class
fees will be forfeited.
